To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many petitions for bankruptcy have been begun by his Department for businesses with under 500 employees in each of the last five years. [40514]

The numbers of Petitions for Bankruptcy and Winding-Up actions begun by the Rate Collection Agency for businesses with under 500 employees in each of the last five years is as follows:

  • 1991–92: 27
  • 1992–93: 147
  • 1993–94: 92
  • 1994–95: 94
  • 1995–96: 60
