§ Mr. HoramSince 1991 such departments and agencies have been responsible for their own recruitment, within the framework laid down by the civil service order in Council 1995 and the recruitment code issued by the Civil Service Commissioners. Figures on applicants are not centrally collected. However, in the past five years among external applicants to "fast stream" posts, the average proportion of women applicants has been 41 per cent., and in the last year women have made up 10 per cent. of external applicants for posts at the current grade 5 level and above. No figures are available about the number of applicants aged over 45 years.
