HC Deb 02 November 1995 vol 265 c424W
Mr. Salmond

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer how many people are employed with the Inland Revenue's oil taxation office in Scotland(a) full time and (b) part time. [39663]

Mr. Jack

[holding answer 27 October 1995]: The Inland Revenue oil taxation office is located in London. It employs 41 full-time and two part-time staff, and deals with the corporation tax and petroleum revenue tax affairs of UK oil and gas producers and associated concerns. A number of Inland Revenue offices in Scotland are responsible for other oil-related matters. These include PAYE matters, the liabilities of divers, and the income tax and corporation tax liabilities of oil industry support concerns based in Scotland. The total number of Inland Revenue employees in Scottish tax and collection offices is approximately 5,700. No information is centrally available on the number of staff in Scotland whose work is related to the oil industry, and obtaining this information would involve disproportionate cost.
