Mrs. Roche

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many petitions for bankruptcy have been begun by his Department for businesses with under 500 employees in each of the last five years.

Mr. Kynoch

[holding answer 1 November 1995]: Since the enactment of the Bankruptcy (Scotland) Act 1985, there has only been one case of sequestration, in 1992, in which the Secretary of State for Scotland was the petitioning creditor.
