HC Deb 01 November 1995 vol 265 c290W
Mr. Cousins

To ask the Secretary of State for the environment if he will publish a list of all living over shops schemes so far approved together with the planned and outturn expenditure on LOTS grants for each year the scheme has operated. [40490]

Mr. Clappison

My Department allocated £25 million to its three-year flats over shops programme—£5 million in 1992–93, £10 million in 1993–94 and £10 million in 1994–95. Outturn expenditure was £4.021 million, £9.456 million and £8.729 million, estimated, respectively.

Details of individual schemes are not held centrally. However, an estimated 1,500 additional housing units have been created by the programme in over 150 local authority areas.

Thirty-eight schemes to bring empty property over commercial premises back into use are being funded by the Department's housing partnership funds in 1995–96.
