To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the full-year cost of abolition of(a) capital gains tax and (b) inheritance tax. [39103]

Receipts from capital gains tax, excluding tax on gains of companies, and inheritance tax are forecast to be £1.1 billion and £1.6 billion respectively in 1996–97.
