HL Deb 31 May 1995 vol 564 cc80-1WA
Lord Braine of Wheatley

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are aware of the decision taken by the Canadian Government to cease funding the International Planned Parenthood Federation, and whether they will ensure that the shortfall in that organisation's funds is not replaced by increased donations from the United Kingdom Government.

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey

We are aware that the Canadian Government is in dialogue with the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) about the level of its contributions to that organisation. With regard to the criteria for setting the level of the United Kingdom's contributions to IPPF, I refer my noble friend to the reply I gave him on 29 November 1993 at cols.WA 21–22 of the Official Report.
