Mr. Wigley

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales, pursuant to his oral answer of 24 April,Official Report, columns 504–5, concerning Government grants and locational incentives, if he will ensure that no jobs are lost in the food processing industry in Wales as a direct displacement arising from grant-aided new jobs being created in the same industrial sector in Northern Ireland. Mr. Redwood

When applications for assistance are being assessed displacement is always considered and the same criteria apply throughout the United Kingdom. The hon. Gentleman has written to me about a particular case and I will reply to him as soon as possible.
