§ Mr. DorrellThe Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979 is the primary legislation in operation to safeguard ancient monuments and archaeological remains in England, Wales and Scotland. Proposals to update and improve the 1979 Act will be included in the Heritage Green Paper which I intend to publish later this year.
