To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what plans he has to meet the Scottish TUC to discuss the Scottish economy. [24248]

Mr. Kynoch

My right hon. Friend meets the Scottish TUC from time to time and officials maintain regular contacts. My right hon. Friend is therefore kept fully aware of the STUC's views on all matters concerning the Scottish economy.

Scottish Office Ministers and officials maintain regular contact with the Scottish Council Development and Industry to discuss economic and other issues. My right hon. Friend last met the Scottish Council Development and Industry when he addressed the annual dinner of the council's London committee on 22 March 1995.
