§ Mr. Robert B Jones[holding answer Tuesday 24 May 1995:]The local Government and Housing Act 1989 requires local authorities to give mandatory renovation grants to owners of unfit private dwellings. Mandatory grants given annually since 1990 to the nearest thousand, are:
- 1990: 2.6
- 1991: 29.7
- 1992: 35.5
- 1993: 37.4
- 1994: 37.8
The Department does not collect data on the number of repairs local authorities are obliged to carry out to their own dwellings under housing and public health legislation.
