HC Deb 22 May 1995 vol 260 cc398-9W
Mr. Winnick

To ask the Parliamentary Secretary, Lord Chancellor's Department, further to the letter of the Parliamentary Secretary to the hon. Member for Walsall, North dated 16 May concerning the appeal of Sukhwinder Kaur, for what reason the registration number TH/21452/95 was given to this case by the immigration appellate authority. [25603]

Mr. John M. Taylor

In accordance with information provided by the immigration appellate authorities, my letter of 16 May explained that Sukhwinder Kaur's appeal had not been received. Subsequent inquiries show that the appeal had been received on 13 April and allocated a reference number on 25 April. I apologise for this error. The computer system used by the appellate authorities is being upgraded and difficulties have been experienced in recent weeks. It is therefore possible that the inaccurate information given in my letter was the result of a manual, but less reliable, search being made for Mrs. Kaur's appeal.

The progress of the appeal has not been hampered by this error and a hearing date will be offered as soon as Mrs. Kaur's representatives indicate that they are ready.
