To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many remand prisoners in England and Wales had been in custody for(a) up to three months, (b) from three to six months, (c) for six to nine months, (d) from nine to 12 months and (e) more than 12 months, on the latest date for which information is available. Letter from Derek Lewis to Mr. Gerald Bermingham dated, 22 May 1995: The Home Secretary has asked me to reply to your recent Question about how many remand prisoners in England and Wales had been in custody for (a) up to three months, (b) from three to six months, (c) from six to nine months, (d) from nine to 12 months and (e) more than 12 months, on the latest date for which information is available. The latest available provisional data for England and Wales is for 31 December 1994 and is shown in the attached table.
