HC Deb 22 May 1995 vol 260 cc476-7W
Mr. McMaster

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will visit Johnstone to assess the success of the multi-agency investment in Houston square in the town's main shopping centre; if he will also visit derelict buildings in high street, Johnstone, to assess how this multi-agency approach to investment could be extended; and if he will make a statement. [24071]

Mr. Kynoch

My right hon. Friend has no immediate plans to visit Johnstone. He is aware, however, of the Houston square project in Johnstone which is due to be completed shortly and has been financed by Renfrewshire Enterprise, Renfrew district council and the European Commission. The need for further investment in Johnstone is, in the first instance, a matter for the local agencies concerned.
