§ Mr. CurryUnder the housing investment programme and other programmes, over £1.2 billion has been allocated to local authorities for 1995–96; a number of the programmes lever in additional resources from the private sector.
Local authorities also fund capital expenditure on housing from usable capital receipts and revenue contributions to capital.
It is up to each local authority to decide how to use its allocation on the basis of local needs.
