To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department, pursuant to his answer of 1 May,Official Report, column 96, what was the recorded number of notifiable offences of theft of motor vehicles in 1994. [24266]

[holding answer 15 May 1995]: The number of notifiable offences of theft or unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle, including aggravated vehicle taking, recorded by the police in England and Wales in 1994 was 534.7000.
