§ Mr. WattsThe objectives of the road building programme are to assist economic growth, conserve and improve the environment, enhance road safety and make better use of the existing road network. We are no longer making larger-scale additions to the network. The current programme is carefully targeted to focus on improvements to existing road corridors and building bypasses for towns and villages.
