To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will list those countries where the British ambassador, high commissioner or charge is female; and in how many countries there is British diplomatic presence. [23785]

The countries where the head of post is female are:

  • Irish Republic
  • Lebanon
  • Costa Rica
  • Ivory Coast
  • Uzbekistan
  • Zaire

Diplomatic or consular relations are maintained with 183 countries, although in some cases the accredited diplomatic staff reside in a third country.
