To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will publish the key targets for 1995–96 for the office of HM Paymaster General. [24047]

The Paymaster Agency's key targets for 1995–96 are as follows:

Pensions meet targets agreed with customers for responding to correspondence and processing associated amendments meet quality targets agreed with customers for processing amendments

Banking meet agreed transaction timetables for handling banking transactions meet agreed quality targets for processing banking service transactions

APEX meet the agreed timetable for sending financial information to the Treasury 95 per cent. of the time and never exceed the timetable by more than one day

Recovering the full cost of running the agency obtain sufficient revenue to cover the full costs of running the agency

Reducing unit costs achieve at least a 10 per cent. reduction in real terms in the average unit cost of paying a pension compared to the previous year achieve a 5 per cent. improvement in the average unit cost index for banking transactions compared to the previous year.
