1. Annual financial returns of health authorities.

2. Mid-year population estimates.

Notes:

1. Figures for 1993–94 are provisional.

2. Figures are for services purchased by district health authorities and do not include expenditure by general practitioner fundholders.

3. Figures do not include expenditure on services for people with learning disabilities.

In addition, of course, local authorities in these cities would also incur expenditure as a result of their responsibilities for the care of mentally ill people.
