HC Deb 11 May 1995 vol 259 c584W
Mr. Madden

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs how much Her Majesty's Government contribute to United Nations programmes to clear mines in(a) Cambodia and (b) other countries; and if he will make a statement. [23100]

Mr. Baldry

[holding answer 10 May 1995]: Since April 1992 we have contributed a total of £4.96 million to UN de-mining programmes. Of this, £2.133 million was for Cambodia, £2.5 million for Afghanistan, £226,000 for Angola and £100,000 for the Yemen. In addition, in March 1995 we paid £500,000 into the UN voluntary fund for mine clearance. We shall continue to consider UN requests as helpfully as possible.
