Six projects have been implemented since the A1 Yamamah offset programme was launched in 1989. They are as follows:

  1. 1. Saudi development and training—providing a wide range of vocational training packages and performing training assessment tasks. The company is fully operational.
  2. 2. Aircraft accessories and components co-servicing of vital aircraft components. Commenced full operations in mid 1993.
  3. 3. Glaxo Saudi Arabia—a facility manufacturing ethical pharmaceutical products. Trial production commenced in March 1995.
  4. 4. United Sugar Co—Tate and Lyle are shareholders in a world scale sugar refinery project. Construction will start in Julie 1995.
  5. 5. Middle East Propulsion Co—the repair and maintenance of civil and military gas turbines. Rolls-Royce are partners in this project. Factory construction to start in mid 1995.
  6. 6. Cyclar—a licensing venture to produce aromatics from Liquefied Petroleum Gas using a process jointly developed by UOP and BP. The project is still at the pre-engineering stage.

The total value of the projects is approximately £460 million.
