To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food how much was spent on official hospitality by his Department in 1994–95. [21208]

Mr. Jack

[holding answer 1 May 1995]: Some £63,684.81, provisional figure, was spent on official hospitality by the Department, excluding its agencies, during the financial year 1994–95.

The principal items of expenditure included hospitality: to overseas officials and other visitors including, for example, visitors from EC organisations and from other member states; to industry representatives, trade associations and professional bodies; in the course of work being undertaken for the Department by individuals in an advisory capacity; at agricultural and trade shows.
