To ask the Secretary of State for Education, pursuant to her answer of 5 December 1994,Official Report, columns 53–56, if she will list, in chronological order, the "Going GM" conferences held in her Department on grant-maintained status since 21 November 1994 giving in each case, (a) the date, (b) the location, (c) the number of schools invited, (d) the number of schools represented, (e) the number of representatives attending and (f) the cost. The Grant Maintained Schools Foundation Ltd. has a network of seven local offices. The London office also serves as the headquarters. At the six offices in England, a total of 15.5 full-time equivalent staff are employed as shown. It is not possible to distinguish between information and administrative staff.

The GMSF's budget application for 1995–96 includes a forecast of £68,816 for rent. Information on the amount of rent paid for each office, and to whom the rent is paid is a matter for the Foundation and the relevant landlords.

The GMSF local office in Swansea is a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Wales.

To ask the Secretary of State for Education what was the cost of running the Grant Maintained Schools Foundation in 1994–95; and what is the level of grant provision for 1995–96. [22456]

The Department paid grant of £695,000 to the Grant Maintained Schools Foundation Ltd. in 1994-95. Grant to a maximum of £815,000 is available for the current financial year.
