HL Deb 04 May 1995 vol 563 cc125-6WA
Lord Tebbit

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will set out the democratic process by which the people of the United Kingdom may accomplish the repeal or annulment of European Community or Union legislation, directives, regulations, decrees or decisions, which they find unacceptable, objectionable or unjust.

Baroness Chalker of Wallasey

Individuals and groups in the UK, as in any other member state, may seek the repeal or amendment of EC legislation through representations to their own Government, the Commission, the European Parliament and other member state governments. The legality of EC Acts may also be challenged in the ECJ in the circumstances and through the procedures set out in Articles 173 and 177 of the Treaty.
