asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will publish in the Official Report a table showing:-

  1. (a) the total number of abortions performed under the terms of the Abortion Act 1967 as amended by Section 34 of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Act 1990, from April 1968 to the latest available date;
  2. (b) the total number of abortions according to the grounds of termination in each year since 1990 for 24 weeks and each week thereafter;
  3. (c) the total number of abortions according to the grounds of termination in each year since 1968 for girls aged 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18 and for women over the age of 35;
  4. (d) the total number of abortions performed in 1992; and how many of these were performed
    1. (i) in an emergency to save the life of the mother, and
    2. (ii) where rape was mentioned; and
  5. (e) the provisional estimate of the total number of abortions performed in 1993 and 1994.
