HC Deb 01 May 1995 vol 259 c33W
Mr. Llwyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list the total amount of spending on training for the last available year, indicating the proportion of spending accounted for by finance from the European Union for the United Kingdom as a whole and for each standard region. [20375]

Mr. Paice

It is estimated that British employers currently spend over £20,000 million a year on training and developing their employees. The total amount of European social fund spent on training in Great Britain in the 1993 calendar year was £580 million. Responsibility for training matters in Northern Ireland lies with my right hon. and learned Friend the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland.
