All grant-maintained and voluntary aided schools which have been designated as technology colleges are required to amend their instrument of government so as to appoint between one and four sponsor governors to represent their sponsors. Some 67 technology colleges have been designated, 52 of which have so far requested the necessary amendments to their instrument.
