HL Deb 28 March 1995 vol 562 c86WA
Lord Molloy

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they are revising the rules governing the sale by local authorities of council housing.

The Minister of State, Department of the Environment (Viscount Ullswater): Certain aspects of the general consents for the voluntary sale of council housing were amended on 27 March 1995. In particular, where an increase in owner-occupation would assist the regeneration of an area, the local authority will be able to sell housing at a discount to persons who might otherwise prefer to buy on the open market outside the regeneration area.
