National insurance credits are generally available to all recipients of unemployment benefit except for those people who work in excess of eight hours in a week. The Government announced in the White Paper on the jobseeker's allowance their intention to extend national insurance credits to those people who are unemployed but work for more than eight but fewer than 16 hours a week.
