§ Miss LestorTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations he has had from organizations and individuals concerned with HIV and AIDS about the Chinese Government's refusal to allow people with HIV and AIDS entry into China, with particular reference to the fourth world conference of women in Beijing.
§ Mr. BaldryWe have had some queries from non-governmental organizations who are concerned with AIDS asking whether people with HIV or AIDS will be able to enter China to attend the UN fourth world conference on women in September. We have raised this with the Chinese who have stated that their existing HIV-related entry restrictions will continue to apply. We are considering with our EU partners what further action to take.
