To ask the Attorney-General whether he has reached a decision on the question of agency status for the Treasury Solicitor's Department.

The Attorney-General

I am satisfied that agency status will enable the Treasury Solicitor's department to operate with greater managerial freedom and with more clearly defined responsibilities, within an agreed framework of objectives, performance targets, and resources. The department will become an executive agency on 1 April 1996.
