To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what was the cost to Strathclyde police of providing necessary assistance to truck cargo heavy duty mark II vehicles through Strathclyde in(a) 1993–94 and (b) 1994–95.

Strathclyde police escort all such vehicles from the force area boundary to their destination, but do not separately identify the costs of such duties.

None of these police forces is routinely involved in escorting duties for these vehicles. The Ministry of Defence police and military security provide the necessary escort.
