§ Mr. MorganTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales what guidelines he has issued to health authorities and trusts giving employment of nurses or nursing assistants who are, or have suffered from anorexia nervosa, bulimia or other eating disorders; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. RedwoodGuidance on such issues are included in occupational health service guidance letters which are sent out by the Department to all health authorities and NHS trusts in Wales. The most recent guidance letter, DGM(95)13, was issued in February this year and, as a result of the Allitt inquiry–Clothier report–included a paragraph about pre-employment health assessments of staff with a history of behaviour that might give cause for concern.
