§ Mr. Jim CunninghamTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment how many new households are projected in the west midlands; and if this figure is in line with the regional guidance plan.
§ Mr. Robert B. JonesThe recently-published 1992-based household projections indicate 2,338 million households for the west midlands by 2011. This is an increase of 295,000 over the number in 1991. The draft regional planning guidance for the west midlands was based on earlier—1989-based—projections, which showed an increase of 244,000 households between 1991 and 2011. The Secretary of State is considering the need for any revision of the guidance in the light of the new figures.
