HC Deb 13 March 1995 vol 256 c404W
Mr. Alex Carlile

To ask the Secretary of State for Health if she will make a statement on the review of intensive care for children undertaken by regional health authorities and regional branches of the NHS Executive.

Mr. Sackville

The reviews confirm that plans have been made to improve the provision of paediatric intensive care. The Department is consulting on the further work required to guide the implementation of these plans towards achieving an accessible and cost effective service nationally.

Mr. Alex Carlile

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what plans she has to identify children's intensive care as separately defined within purchaser-provider service arrangements.

Mr. Sackville

The specification of contracts agreed between purchasers and providers for supplying children's intensive care service is a matter for local determination.
