HC Deb 13 March 1995 vol 256 c436W
Mr. Barry Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimate he has made of the number of people suffering from Alzheimer's disease aged(a) 65 years and over or (b) under 65 years in Scotland; and if he will make a statement.

Lord James Douglas-Hamilton

[holding answer 9 March 1995]: This information is not available. The range of estimates which may be adduced from specific studies of the prevalence of dementia in the population is discussed in an article by Dr. P. W. Brooks which appeared in the March 1992 edition of the "Health Bulletin", a copy of which has been placed in the Library.
