§ Mr. MacleanThe Criminal Justice and Public Order Act 1994 contains important new measures which will help the police and the courts to deal more effectively with young people who commit crimes. The secure training order will enable the courts to order the detention of persistent juvenile offenders for periods of between three months and one year, followed by a similar period of supervision.
