To ask the President of the Board of Trade what inquiries his Department undertook into the background of the directors of ROM Data computer firm in Cornwall before making it a grant.

A range of inquiries were undertaken by the Department and others into the background of ROM Data, including checks on the directors of the company through the Companies House and insolvency service databases.

We are currently awaiting the liquidators' report and are keeping under review the action which may be appropriate.
