Mr. Boyes

To ask the Secretary of State for Social Security if he will list all White Papers, Green Papers and pamphlets issued by his Department or agencies for which it is responsible in 1994, giving in each case the total cost to the Exchequer of their production, publication and distribution; and what was the total equivalent cost in 1980.

1. These figures do not include the costs of producing reprints and revised editions of existing leaflets, the costs of which cannot be apportioned to a particular calendar year.

2. Distribution costs are included where possible and appropriate. However, for many campaigns distribution covers a variety of material, including claim packs, and this cannot be broken down.

The Department does not hold information about total costs to the Exchequer other than the costs given in the table.

A total equivalent cost for 1980 cannot be provided because the Department of Social Security did not exist until 1988.
