§ Mr. SoamesService attachés are appointed by the Ministry of Defence, subject to the concurrence of the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs. They serve the Ministry of Defence by supporting the sale of British defence equipment and related services; aiding defence co-operation, including military assistance overseas, performing representational and liaison duties; and providing advice to the head of mission and diplomatic staff.
