§ Mr. AllenTo ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage what is his policy in respect of(a) tax incentives for European film producers and (b) levies on non-EU films; and what assessment he has made of the impact of levies on non-EU films on transnational distribution of European audio-visual products.
§ Mr. DorrellTax arrangements are a matter for the Chancellor of the Exchequer. The rate of duty applied to non-EU films imported into the UK ranges between 0.28 and 1.9 ecu per 100 m, depending on the type of film. No assessment has been made of the impact duties on non-EU films may have had on transnational distribution of European products.
