To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland what estimate he can make concerning the percentage of women being offered cervical smears on a three-yearly basis or less in(a) Inverclyde, (b) Strathclyde and (c) Scotland as a whole.

[holding answer 20 February 1995]: All women throughout Scotland in the age range 20 to 60 years are offered cervical screening on a three-yearly basis. The only ineligible women are those who have had a total hysterectomy.
