Mr. Harry Greenway

To ask the Secretary of State for Education what was the percentage of pupils statemented in each local education authority in England in the last year for which figures are available; and what percentage of the education budget, and what amount of money, was spent on special needs in each local education authority.

The percentage of pupils in each LEA with a statement of special educational needs in January 1994 is given in the following table.

It is not possible to provide aggregated expenditure on special educational needs in each local education authority, as the data on such expenditure incurred by individual schools are not collected.
