To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many 16 and 17-year-olds were seeking training places in each division of every regional council in Scotland on 1 June; and what was the number of vacancies. [27576]

[holding answer 21 June 1995]: The number of young people under 18 years of age seeking training places and the number of training vacancies on 31 May are shown in the following table. Information is not available to split these figures into smaller areas.

The number of vacant places on a given day is only a snapshot and does not reflect the total supply of places which would be available over the specified time scale for making offers to young people.
