To ask the President of the Board of Trade what considerations underpin the proposed reduction in staff in man years dedicated to United Kingdom representation at, and work with, the International Atomic Energy Agency on the implementation of nuclear safeguards, as indicated at paragraph 43 of part 2 of his departmental MINIS 95 report on trade policy and export promotion, subsection on export control and non-proliferation—XNP. There are no plans to reduce staff effort in this area. The man years of staff effort shown for 1994–95 were incorrectly quoted as 3.7 plan and 3.5 outturn. The correct figure for both plan and outturn should have been 3.
