To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to his answer of 22 June,Official Report, column 379, what is the total annual cost of the Dartmouth naval college. [31776]

This is a matter for the Naval Recruiting and Training Agency under its framework document. I have asked the chief executive, NRTA, to write to the hon. Member.

Ferguson to Dr. David Clark, dated 30 June 1995: The Secretary of State for Defence has asked the Chief Executive of the Naval Recruiting and Training Agency to reply to your Parliamentary Question, about the total annual cost of the Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth. I am replying on behalf of the Chief Executive who is away on duty. The annual running costs for Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth for the last four financial years are as follows:

  • FY 1991–92: £15.8M
  • FY 1992–93: £18.5M
  • FY 1993–94: £19.0M
  • FY 1994–95: £17.9M (estimate)
  • All figures shown exclude Sea Training costs and VAT.
