Friend the Secretary of State for the Environment has not discussed with Church authorities the specific need for repair grants arising from damage caused by atmospheric pollution. However, the position with regard to historic churches is that, provided other eligibility criteria are fulfilled, grant aid may be available from English Heritage towards repairs necessitated by atmospheric pollution.
