To ask the President of the Board of Trade what percentage of retail sales and manufacturing output is attributable to the domestic housing market. [30416]

Information detailing annual retail sales is published in the CSO "Business Monitor SDA25—Retailing". In 1992 the percentage of retail turnover attributed to sales of furniture, domestic appliances and other household goods was 16.8 per cent.

The percentage of manufacturing output attributable to the domestic housing market is unavailable.
