HC Deb 27 June 1995 vol 262 c560W
Mr. Martyn Jones

To ask the Secretary of State for Health what progress has been made in setting up a pilot network of health-promoting schools as described in "The Health of the Nation;" and what her Department's budget has been for this project in the current year. [30545]

Mr. Sackville

England formally entered a European network of health-promoting schools in September 1993. The 16 pilot schools which make up the English network are currently involved in a wide variety of health education and health promotion activities, involving not only the school community but also external agencies. A number of schools have established European links with the wider European network of schools.

The Department of Health will contribute approximately £400,000 to the project for the current year.
